ABOUT ME

I’m a dynamic, creative, and connected leader who is dedicated to improving social and equitable outcomes for our most vulnerable communities. Tackling complex issues, creating effective communication strategies and clear messaging through storytelling is where I thrive. My proven track record includes raising millions of dollars in restricted and unrestricted funds used for critical operational, capital, and programmatic investments.

This strong foundation in communication was laid when I began my career as television news producer and then an Associated Press reporter in Mexico. Here I cultivated my ability to identify and clearly communicate problems, while offering constructive and collaborative solutions. I returned to Portland in 2005 and leveraged these skills to work in the nonprofit sector. My decade-plus experience in this sector includes tangible results growing programs, services, departments, and organizations in some of Portland-metro's premier culturally specific organizations such as the Native American Youth and Family Center and the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization.

I was born in Mexico and raised in Long Beach, California and Portland. My commitment and passion to equity and community is primarily shaped by my experience of growing up as an immigrant in the US. Too many intelligent and talented young leaders are left behind due to institutionalized racism, classism, homophobia, and many other forms of systematic oppression. I want to use my skills and experience to elevate the voices of those who are too often left out critical conversations.
